Silvius Leopold Weiss: Entree in G-major

My humble and grateful thanks go to John and Judy Rogerson that constructed, built and traveled to Copenhagen to give me this beautiful instrument.
What they did for me, is more than anyone can expect from strangers and even from friends!
Their view on life, and what to do with it, has inspired, affected and changed my own view. This is more than I deserve but I accept it with a humble heart.
I also want to thank them for trusting me to fly Judys airplane. Something that also changed my view! Now I can see everything from above! :-)
I will treasure this for my entire life. Thank you and Stay Tuned!
Pelle

This is one of the few pieces by S. L. Weiss that isn’t part of a Suite. Weiss and J.S. Bach probably met in Potsdam outside Berlin. They probably discussed, and agreed on that they got too little money from the king… :-) Bach and Weiss died the same year (1750) and at that time the baroque was really, REALLY out of fashion: they were the old guys! Dead boooring! It took over a 100 years until Felix Mendelssohn re-discovered the baroque and mankind realized the genius of Bach and his alike.

Guitar tuning: D AF# C G D C (a second below a guitar and with the 3rd. str. tuned half a step down (Like a lute). My transcription at http://www.per-olovkindgren.com/ipnmonitor is adapted for standard guitar in renaissance tuning. (3rd. to F#)
Stay Tuned! :-)

Hi there. The only way is to find a good teacher. This is still one of the things in life that is VERY difficult to teach yourself. If you cannot find one in your area, buy a Guitar Metod and follow every instruction. I have one for sale on my shop but since you can read music maybe that is too basic for you…
    Good luck.

Long time – no see. I hope you are good!
Thank you. Great synonym you gave me there… :) Appreciated.
Yes, this is great for Weiss and baroque pieces. It’s BIG though. 704 mm string length. And my normal guitar os 650 mm. so there is some hard stretches.

That is such a cool …
That is such a cool guitar, I allways wanted to get a classical guitar, The nylon strings make such a differant sound. Not to mention that one is a 7 string. Very Impressive

  21. eschelar says:

    Just that I …
Just that I particularly enjoyed the 7 string. I’m working on doing a stint as an apprentice with a luthier and I’m especially interested in non-standard string sets, especially 5, 7, 8 and 10 strings.

Don’t worry, I’ll stick to standard stringing until I get the technique down. Probably a couple of years before I get there (waiting a year for the chance to apprentice).
