Notre Dame fans, will / should Notre Dame give Charlie Weiss another year to turn things around?

What do you think about his play calling?
Yes, he should get a few more years to turn things around.
The Irish do not have bad coaching, or play-calling. They have inexperienced players and poor execution.
Look for ND to win 6 games next season and make themselves a National Champion contender the following year.
Experience can take you a long way in College Football.

Considering the past recruiting classes and his contract I say they should.
Notre Dame is going to be a solid team within two years.

I’m not a Notre Dame fan but I think Weiss will be there next year. I think that is a mistake though. Clearly he has turned things around at Notre Dame, sadly that means he made a decent program into a TERRIBLE one though. He has sunk that programs to new lows. Come on losing to Navy after 43 years. I mean yeah it was triple OT and Navy isn’t that bad this year BUT then you add in that this is the first time Notre Dame has lost 5 HOME games. Truth is that Weiss wasn’t the offensive genius that Notre Dame thought they were getting.
Oh and why do people always talk about it being a "young" team as an excuse? I mean seriously what college team is going to be "old"? If Notre Dame wants to be a big name program then they have to be able to be a "young" team. If they want a big name program then the big name players WILL LEAVE EARLY FOR THE DRAFT. A good team works around that. Pitt has a true Freshman QB and RB(I’m a Pitt fan so that is where I put them in) and they are doing better. Face it young players aren’t the problem, and if they are then Weiss is the wrong coach for the team. Does USC whine about how they have players leave early? Does OSU and Michigan and others whine about it? So if Notre Dame wants to be a big name program then they better realize that good players will leave early.

I’d give him at least one more year, maybe two.
If they didn’t put up with Ty having 6-6 seasons, I’d be amazed if he stayed there after another 1 or 2 win campaign. They dug their own grave when they signed him to a 10 year deal.

If Ty Willingham(?) was the coach, he would have been fired. ND is a bigot school. They don’t practice what they preach. They’ve always had double standards. That’s why I hope they don’t win any more games this year and hope they stink it up next year.

He’ll get more time because some moron signed him to a 10 year contract last season. His buyout at this point is huge - more than even the top school’s can afford. He will have at least 4 more years to make things better based on a economic standpoint alone.
The AD might be fired though.

he’ll be around… although not trying for a last second 4th Q FG was inexcusable…
c’mon, Navy needed 3 OTs to beat a 1-7 team that is at best a shell of last year’s team??

Shufs is completely right. His going for it on 4th down cost them the game. Granted it would have been a long feild goal (but I think it was under 50 yds), you still would have had a very good chance of putting 3 more points on the board.
With that said, i still don’t think Weiss is going anywhere, mainly because people somehow still think he is a football genius. He has 3 super bowl rings, but then everyone who touches New England seems to be able to make gold appear on their finger.
Perhaps Charlie should relaize that field goals can win games. He should also realize that garbage time= good experience for underclassmen. don’t keep your starters in when you are up by 25+ in the 4th. You are just hurting yourself for next season.
