Okay, so you have just joined the ranks of hundreds of thousands of other Americans in the unemployment line. It’s not bad enough that you lost your job, your paycheck, your pride and your self worth, but you’ve also lost your health insurance. You’re first step, cry of course. Your second step is to begin the often painful process of buying individual health insurance. For many of the newly laid off, this will be their first experience with purchasing your own insurance. The good news is that this is not impossible and surprisingly enough, not necessarily a cause of bankruptcy. Get online, identify your insurance needs and then start shopping. The large number of insurance companies works in your favor, especially if you are healthy. Go about it like you are buying a car. Play hardball. Remember that you are the customer and you are doing them a favor. The deals are there. You just have to find them.
