Settle an argument please – is "Thelma and Louise (1991)" a ‘chick flick’ or not?

Wikipedia seems to think it is, and whilst I don’t remember it all that well, I don’t remember thinking that it was.

No. It COULD be, but it has more universal appeal than to be dismissed as a chick flick. It was a wonderfully innovative film that deserves to be called an action film, or a tragedy.

    TOTAL chick flick. The main characters are female. It’s a female version of a "buddy flick". They bond over things that women deal with ie men and the drama and pains that come along with men :)

    Yeah it is! but because it’s not a soppy Romantic Comedy that the normal chick flicks are like, it can get away with being a normal drama film.

    But it’s more a Girl Power chick flick and a great film!
