    Well, the Grand Canyon varies from 4 miles to 18 miles wide…so I don’t think so!

    They didn’t jump over, they jumped in (not certain is was the Grand Canyon either). They thought there was no other way out of their situation.

    If you watch the alternate ending, apparently it shows the car falling smoothly at first, then it starts rocking side to side and going more and more out of control.
