No. It COULD be, but it has more universal appeal than to be dismissed as a chick flick. It was a wonderfully innovative film that deserves to be called an action film, or a tragedy.

I think she was raped, but I think the person was not charged since there was no substantial physical evidence as she relays to Thelma why they can’t go to the police. Well, just a thought, do you agree with me or you have any other ideas?

I think they make it pretty clear she was raped, actually you even know where it happened, in Texas. The police know she was raped, the officer mentions it to her on the phone remember? You also get the idea that he knows that the man they killed tried to rape Thelma. She doesn’t want to go to the police because she thinks they do not care about rape, that they will not understand and they will take his (the dead guy’s or his remaining family’s) side. That is how she feels she was treated. Sad really but I have to say I agree with her, they would probably have been convicted of manslaughter and thrown in jail.

Louise was close enough that she could have — and maybe should have — just winged him like in the arm — enough to stop him cold in his tracks. He would have maybe been disabled for life and/or reminded of the incident for the rest of his days.
